This one looks like a classic old car that has been restored to original condition. On the outside, it still looks like it did from the factory in 1947. It is however 100% hot rod. There are no outward signs that the original power plant has been replaced by 351 cid of modern v8 muscle and a ford c6 automatic transmission. Performance is excellent and the car sounds as good as it looks. There are no flames or graphics on this one. The wheels are still sporting the classic ford full moon hubcaps and factory trim rings. The interior is completely custom and is very functional. Except for the dash panel everything has been updated. All the gauges are functional. There is a full-size console with a modern sony head unit including cd and an armrest with the ford logo smartly embroidered. The seats are covered in tan leather. Rumors say that the traveling business people used the trunk also to take a nap in. This car has it all. The only thing that is missing is a new owner. A few modern upgrades were added to make cruising in the florida sunshine a bit easier including a 12 volt electrical system, electric fuel pump, and electric fan. With looks and comfort this is one easy ford to cruise in and enjoy. Due to the war, civilian production had halted on fords from 1942 until july of 1945 when it picked back up until 1948. Visual differences included the removal of the red accents from the grill and the two small lights located just above it. Ford began titling 1947s in february 1947. For the first few weeks, the 1947 model was identical to the 1946. Ford then restyled the body slightly first by moving the parking lights from above the grill to below each headlight. Exterior moldings were changed from grooved to a smooth design. A new hood ornament with a blue plastic insert was installed. A new hubcap design became available in march. This 1940 ford deluxe was produced by the ford motor company and then converted by the eureka manufacturing company of rock falls illinois into a flower car. Essentially starting out as a 5-window coupe, the conversion lengthened the chassis and the convertible rear casket compartment was created with metal rollers and pins to store the side rails that would hold flowers in place. This car had a dual use of being enclosed with the original canvas cover for the less elaborate funerals and having the rear compartment cover removed and side rails installed for a more elaborate send off. Flower cars were popular during the middle of the century and now are rarely seen in modern funerals. While most if not all of these conversions done by eureka were on general motors vehicles this one being a ford and not a packard or cadillac makes this highly obscure and is believed to be the only one ever made. This car was purchased new in 1940 and check out the original photos of the car being delivered. This is an original, unmolested, unrestored car that still retains the original paint, original canvas cover, original interior and powertrain.
